HUMAN - ANIMAL ONE HEALTH CONFERENCE

  • Introduction

    • Conference introduction:

      Erick Lelouche & Bruno Bernard

    • Opening by Frédéric Keck:

"One Health, whose health ? Anthropological perspectives."
  • Session #1 : Surveillance & Control

When infectious diseases can spread freely between human and animals (wild and/or domestic), the challenge is to detect and control them before they generate widespread health and economic consequences. What can be done to ensure efficient early detection? How to engage with the different private and public stakeholders to better understand their specific objectives and harmonise procedures, thereby improving communication? What role the public may have in improving surveillance system and ensure diseases are properly mitigated?

    • Marion Koopmans' plenary presentation:

"Lessons from COVID-19 for future Disease X preparedness"

    • Thierry Lefrançois' presentation:

"From the management to the prevention of pandemics: a One health and international perspective"

    • Teshome Mebatsion's presentation:

"Lessons from past outbreaks and how to improve our ability to detect fast and control emerging viral diseases"

    • Round table discussion:

"How to improve detection & control of infectious threats?"

    • Emmanuelle Soubeyran:

      More information to come

  • Session #2 : Knowledge development

Implementing robust and efficient measures to prevent and control infectious threats within a One Health context is challenging but is critical to avoid unwanted consequences. The challenge is to better appreciate the consequences that each decision and action may have on humans, animals and ecosystems. What kinds of information are public and veterinary public health managers still lacking to achieve this goal? Is the transmission potential of infectious threats mostly related to individual human decisions or is it still important to improve our understanding of the complex mechanisms existing between all the actors in the ecosystem?

    • Gregory Doucet video presentation :

      More information to come

    • Serge Morand's presentation:

"Facing the epidemic of epidemics: tackling the drivers rather than managing the consequences"

      - One Health formation : Nathalie Guerson
  • Session #3 : Tools Development

Tools are put in place to understand the dynamics of infectious diseases both at small, local scale -farm, community- and at large, global scale -animal and/or human populations. The challenge is now to integrate various data types, captured using different tools, to share and analyze the “big data” ? Are there examples showing that existing tools will allow us to achieve this ambition, or is there a need to rethink completely the data capture systems ?
